Simple Pleasures… Flowers

September 28, 2012

Another favourite thing, that makes me feel so good is buying flowers for my house…

There is nothing like treating yourself to a little hand tie posy and a few bunches of fragrant blooms to make your home smell amazing.

I am lucky that right now I have a house full after a couple from Dubai left us all their flowers after their wedding last week. Score.

My favourites for small are hyacinth’s and freesia’s and of course nothing is sweeter than a rose.

For a visual impact that you can’t fail to miss I love sunflowers and hydrangea’s at the moment… mostly I love a bouquet put together by someone who knows what they are doing.

My local Sunday farmers market has a great florist so if I am heading there looking for a special Sunday dinner I often pick up myself a little treat but my favourite place to go is Flowers of Stokes Croft

They did my wedding flowers and grow their own British varieties. There is always something unusual in there… not just the standard… I cannot bear germini which seem to be everywhere and in every bouquet so it’s always a delight to visit and walk out with the prettiest unusual flowers.

Swooning Over… A Fruity Suit

September 27, 2012

This suit is super cute….

All you need is a holiday in the South of France, a big and white striped sun lounger and a big wide-brimmed hat to make it work.

I am super mean talking about holidays now aren’t I? I need one!

Available at Avenue 32

Divine.

I am still obsessed with BHLDN a year after my wedding… these wedding worthy shoes would totally work in real life too and are so special…

These adorable ballet flats with the big bow with cute up any outfit… I wear them with dark blue skinnies and a white silk blouse for lunch with my Mama…

These satin blue lovelies would be perfect for shopping in London, flat and comfy but special enough to walk through any boutique you like…

These I want for a fun girls night out, dancing and twirling in dresses after cocktails at my favourite bar…

The colour on these is amazing, I might save these for a special event, the glamorous wedding of a favourite girlfriend prehaps, where designer dresses would be worn by all and heels to impress much-needed…

But if I was to pick one pair it would be these and I am determined to make them mine. I would wear them on a date night with my husband with jeans and a simple camisole to our favourite neighbourhood restaurant… they are too beautiful to leave them at BHLDN…

I better start saving…

I love having friends to stay… I love having girlfriends to stay even more, having a proper pajama party is definitely something I am doing to do this autumn.

Your checklist for the perfect Pajama Party…

1. The best silky pajama’s – we love Olivia von Halle’s Victoria
2. Lots of cushions to buff up your party area
3. Mexican Food… sociable and delicious plus not something many people eat a lot
4. Freshly made popcorn, mix it up with this recipes from 101 Cookbooks
5. Alcohol… I love to mix fancy gin and tonics by crushing berries into the mix, so simple.
6. Face masks – If you are doing this properly ladies… cucumber on the eyes.
7. Old Movies – ones you’ve already seen, you won’t watch it properly with all the GOSSIP!

I am going to get planning…. Think Grease!

The Weekend…

September 24, 2012

Now that was a proper weekend… I had so much time at home I actually feel rested and ready for the busy week ahead.

I had a day off work to run errands… I also managed to shop and filled my house with these beautiful flowers from a stand near my house…

I also got some painting done in the bedroom with a sleepy Biggie for company. I swear he stayed here all day, oh for the life of a cat!

I wrapped up warm in my favourite wool Whistles jumper and thick tights and headed into the city… spotting the Matthew on route…

I ate tasty food too… at Start the Bus and Lahloo Tea…

I made fancy gin + tonics with added berries and cucumber and finished off my macaroons from the previous weekend trip to London…

I worked a beautiful wedding with classic detailing… on a gorgeous autumnal day…

… on which I had a balanced diet of iced coffee and delicious cakes… a present from my boss…

I also had some proper down time with some grooming action and Vogue and coffee time under a blanket while the rain lashed down outside…

…and red wine with pie time on Sunday. Perfect.

More weekends at home are so the aim from now on… it makes such a difference to how I feel on Monday morning!
