Happy Thoughts

January 28, 2014

I love this Roald Dahl quote.

It’s too lovely. And so so true. I need this today. *stressed*

The Weekend…

Monday… again? Really?

It was so dark this morning when my alarm went off I started googling sunlight lamps. I need one of these in my life.

I am scared… winter is well and truly here.

So my weekend… was jam-packed but seriously lovely.

Friday I was lucky enough to be invited to Lahloo Pantry’s first birthday party… you must know by now how much I love this place… we were fed red wine and hot cider, the best rarebit I ever had (thinking of making a trip up there soon to order multiple slices) matcha macaroons and this beautiful birthday cake…

A big Happy Birthday to Lahloo, and thank you for the invitation.

Saturday was glorious and I spent a leisurely morning in my sunny kitchen with coffee and poached eggs…

Before dashing off to work… I had to grab a little caffeine on the way and how cute are these limited edition diet cokes?

The wedding was beautiful, I spent the whole day like a giddy little girl… I loved hanging the brides ivy decor… and her bouquet was the cutest and smelt so sweet…

Their favours were great too, each guy had a favourite book of theirs and the girls had handmade vases (by the mother of the bride I believe!) all with little bookmarks with their name on…

They even had my favourite book in the whole wide world… Tess of the D’Ubervilles.

The best thing though, was their arrival, on the Matthew

So amazing.

Even better was that I got to go and hang out on her… Once again I was pinching myself that this is my job.

Saturday night I had a quick sushi date with my husband…

…before going to my dear friend Aoife’s birthday party which was so fun, and quite drunken. She made everyone party bags. She is super cute.

The next morning, with a slightly sore head I had a long lie in with tea and a book before making cheese on toast…

… and moving to the sofa to watch old Marilyn movies under a blanket. Whenever I am not feeling great this is what I do. These movies made me so happy… and diamonds are a girls best friend is such a tune!

I did eventually venture outside… to a gorgeous day…

To visit the Sunday market for a little treat.

Then visited another lovely girl-friend to deliver more birthday treats… this year all of my friends are getting a little Chanel treat… it’s a great time saver and who wouldn’t love anything arriving in this classic packaging?

The rest of the day was spent working my way through the papers while my Husband made roast chicken… Perfect.

I love writing these little weekend posts, they make me feel so grateful every Monday and are a great little diary.

I hope I am not boring you all with my very tame weekends!

Happy Friday!

September 7, 2012

Friday is here…

This weekend is looking super busy for me though, so I won’t be relaxing. With two weddings at riverstation and more work to do at home there is too much to do.

You can check our progress here and here

I still have a Vogue and an InStyle sitting at home unread. Unbelievable.

Still my in-laws are staying and we are going out for dinner tonight and will enjoy some catch up time tomorrow night at home in our new dining room too… which will be lush.

Whatever you are doing this weekend enjoy the sunshine and warmth, Autumn is definitely coming!

My only other suggestion is that you check out the recipe on Full as an Egg today, first one in a while and its a good one…

The Past Week…

July 29, 2012

Last week was the best, after weeks of feeling like I am playing catch up on everything and having one of those weeks where everything goes wrong and you are the clumsiest person alive (please say it’s not just me?) I needed it…

The sun came out which definitely helped, there was lots of iced Matcha tea happening, lots of ice cream eating (you must go buy a cone of home-made ice cream from Spyglass discovered by Elly, they really are the best in Bristol), lots and lots of hanging out on ‘the wall’ by the Arnofini at lunchtime and after work.

And I have to give a little mention to the Neaustift cheese stand at the farmers market every Wednesday they have their own herd of goats and the cheese is just beautiful, sold in little wooden boxes they do a few flavours, the black pepper is great.

We took ours on our date night picnic in the park with some strawberries, bubbles and macaroons for dessert it was a great date.

Then towards the end of the week I had a day off from the day job for a couple of weddings at riverstation and some work towards our Eco Wedding Fair!

Coffee in bed on a weekday is such a treat (even better when you don’t make it!)

First some errand running, the kind I like; I had to go shop for ribbon in St Nicks market, serious if you like to craft or sew or wrap presents go visit Sew Sew it rocks.

Then it was a power juice before work…

Then set up for a mini wedding… with hydrangeas and soft white roses…

Then, in my opinion, a perfect Friday night of bubbles and sunsets in Bristol’s harbourside.

Saturday I worked on another wedding at riverstation, this time a full day of ceremony and the wedding breakfast, it was a very classic wedding with vintage crystal and roses, I ahd the loveliest job of arranging the flowers… I saw the sweetest moment between the Bride and her Dad, and the rooms looks beautiful when all her hard work paid off… she had hand-made all the little favours and the name tags.

Saturday night with my Husband away on a boys camping trip I had my old house mate Sofi over, we don’t catch up nearly enough and it was so nice, drinking yet more pink bubbles and raspberry gin and tonics and having pasta-comas while watching weird tv shows on you tube. I love nights in with Sof!

In the morning I made my best french toast to date… like this recipe here but made with chocolate chips, and added banana and vanilla sugar. Insane. Don’t try to do anything for at least an hour after eating.

Then a lazy lunch was yet more sweetness with a scone given to me by Holly at Lahloo Pantry ages ago (which I was advised to freeze and they’re still good I have two more stored) with blackcurrant and cassis jam from my Mama, coffee, papers and Biggie the cat.

Sunday afternoon was pub time with some lovely friends and their new baby, much cooing and swooning over baby feet was had.

After my crappy week I did say I was going to make this one a good one. I loved it, and it makes starting a new week today exciting, no Monday blues here!

How was your week? The UK was filled with sunshine so it can’t have been bad!

Ballerina Dress

June 11, 2012

I love this dress, I love anything that looks vaguely like you should be a ballet dancer when wearing it. I might change my whole image to that. Except I am not a dancer.

Seeing this has made me miss doing ballet, I must start again!

Available from Farfetch spotted on Design Sponge

I would totally wear with cute ballet pumps or my superga’s

Detail, Detail, Detail

April 5, 2012

I see this on Simple Lovely, who saw it on Wife and 2 Kids and I had to share it some more…

This is Oscar de la Renta making sure all of the gift bag strings for his fashion show are just so before his fashion show.

As Joslyn says not only does it show the importance of focusing on every detail no matter how tiny it seems it shows how important it is to still focus on those details no matter how menial the task and how many people you have to do that task for you. It shows humility as well as care.

And those details matter. Small things like this stand out. Always.

I love him a little bit more after seeing this.

Cute!
